An eligible application will reserve a place on the waiting list. Placement is determined by ranking under federal and local preferences, and the application date, per guidelines set by the federal government. When an opening that suits the needs of an applicant becomes available, the GFHA will contact the applicant. Eligible families will pay about 30 percent of their monthly adjusted income as rent, regardless of bedroom size.
The Housing Authority is a manager for assisted housing certificates and vouchers for the Section Eight housing program. Private landlords contract with the Housing Authority to provide housing to Section Eight clients.
The Great Falls Housing Authority manages 490 apartments under the Public Housing program. The apartments are unfurnished, but have refrigerators, stoves and laundry hookups for washers and dryers. Applications are taken at the administration office located at 1500 Chowen Springs Loop.
